Understanding the Importance of Auto Service: A Guide for Everyone

Auto service is critical, and without it, you can lose your car or put yourself in danger. Hi, my name is Pete, and after ignoring my brakes for too long, I was in an accident. I made it my goal to learn everything I could about the importance of car service. Regardless of how much or how little you know about cars, I hope that these blogs can help you. I plan to focus on a range of topics related to auto service and possibly some other ideas as well. This is my first blog, and I hope that you enjoy it. When I'm not writing, I work in a coffee shop during the day and part-time for a telemarketing company in the evenings. I enjoy cooking and spending time with my family.

What to Expect When Your Car Is Smashed

by Alexandra Obrien

If your car is in need of smash repairs, you will want to be involved in each step. When will you be able to drive your car again? What can you expect as you wait for repairs? The following are the steps taken by repair companies. Knowing the steps can help you have an accurate estimate as to when you will be able to drive your car again as you check into which phase your car is in.

Insurance Company

On the day of the accident, you should contact your insurance company and send them photos of your own car as well as the other car. Get the other driver's insurance information and give this to your insurance agent.

Estimate

You will need to take your car to a shop that completes smash repairs. They will review your car and give an estimate to your insurance company. Your insurance company will then work with the other driver's insurance company on how much they will pay. If the accident was not your fault, and both companies agree on that, you will probably be provided with a rental car to drive during your car's repairs.

Disassembly

Once the insurance company has made a payment, the car will begin to be disassembled. During this part of the process, more damage may be revealed. If this is so, the negotiation will return to the insurance companies to work out an amount that will cover the newly discovered damage.

Interior Repairs

During this phase, all the repairs necessary to the interior and structural part of your car will be fixed. The car will be repaired to match the condition of your car before the accident.

Exterior Repairs

Once the insides of your car have been repaired, the mechanics will focus on the aesthetic part of your vehicle. This includes anything from dents on the bumper to a broken headlight.

Reassembly

Once all areas of the car have been repaired, the mechanics will reassemble your car and test the car to make sure it is working well.

Aesthetic Adjustments

If the accident left some white marks on your front bumper, your paint color will be matched, and the area will be re-painted to match its previous appearance.

Report

An extensive report of the exact repairs done and the cost of each repair will be produced both for you as the owner and for the insurance companies. Your smash repairs are now complete!
